UW-Whitewater hosting baseball regional
WHITEWATER The UW-Whitewater baseball team isn’t just going to host the dance, it’s received an invitation to attend.
The Warhawks received the fourth seed in the Whitewater Regional of the NCAA Division III tournament. The Warhawks (29-15) face Concordia University-Chicago (33-12) in the first game at
10 a.m. Wednesday.
Whitewater is one of four regional sites that host eight teams. The other four regionals are comprised of six teams, for a total national field of 56 teams.
The winners of the eight regionals travel to Fox Cities Stadium in Little Chute for the NCAA Division III World Series on May 25-29.
Whitewater is making its fifth consecutive, and 15th overall, NCAA tournament appearance.
The Warhawks advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series in 1989 (tied for fifth), 2004 (fourth), 2005 (national champions), 2008 (third), and 2011 (tied for fifth).
